The world's happiest country report released by the Sustainable Development Solutions Network for the United Nations has relesed a recent report that states Finland is the happiest country in the world and the United States has dropped down to 19th. "The top 10 countries tend to rank high in all six variables, as well as emotional measures of well-being," says report co-editor John Helliwell. The report ranks countries on six key variables that support well-being: income, freedom, trust, healthy life expectancy, social support and generosity. Finland was not only happy, but they also had the happiest immigrants in the world.
For the United States, a country where they preach land of the free and home of the brave; The United States ranks 61st in freedom and 42nd place for corruption in the world. Politics in the United States preach how the U.S. is the best country in the world. However, the statistics to prove this show other wise. These ranking really do make you think. What could the United States truly become if we were ranked in the top 10 of happiness? What would it be like to live in an environment like that? Is it possible for the United States to achieve such a goal?

Right now I am a student at Michigan State University with a major in Actuarial Science. I plan to get a bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science and minor in data science. By the time I graduate college I want to have three out of the ten total actuarial exams passed. Within a couple years after I plan to pass all of the exams to get my full certification. Due to actuaries being the highest ranking people in insurance companies and with a minor in data science, I hope to become Chief Financial Officer (CFO) or a Chief Administrative Officer (CAO). I want to continue to learn all of the time, and with the challenge of being an actuary I hope it will help me accomplish my future goals, and what I am looking for within my profession.
Last year Aetna closed a deal with CVS worth $70 billion. This deal landed the Aetna CEO with $500 million in cash and stocks. This deal is huge for Aetna as it is going to help them take over the insurance world. CVS is the largest pharmacy company in the United States. The deal of this is to help improve coverage of healthcare. Aetna will also give each one of their stock holders, 0.8 in CVS stock.
With Hartford, CT already being the insurance capital of the world, and Aetna hq being located there; Aetna will complete this deal proving that they are above all of the other insurance companies in the United States. This is all important to me because my internship next year as an actuary will be at Aetna. Once I graduate college I plan on working at Aetna. Actuaries are some of the highest ranked people in an insurance company and I plan to keep progressing and getting as high up as a job possible over the years. Over the next couple years I hope Aetna keeps progressing. They are not the top insurance company in the world. However, with more deals like this they soon will be able to be. Nobody knows when season 4 of Rick and Morty will come. However, according to multiple reports it will have a release time late 2019. The last episode of season 3 of Rick and Morty aired in October of 2017; it has been a long wait for Rick and Morty fans. Rick and Morty is something else. It is funny and brings out the different possibilities of science. This imaginary galaxy has billions of possible lives. It is defiantly a show everyone should see.
9/10 The World Health Organisation (WHO) says air pollution causes the death of seven million people a year and accounts for a third of fatalities from stroke, lung cancer and heart disease, with more than 90% of children breathing toxic air every day. The best that scientists are doing right now; they created a sensor system to alert them when the polition in the air is dangerously toxic.
It is scary to think that how poluted the air is in many places around the world, it kill you. With being able to breath the human body would shut down and die. Humans have to breath the air around us to survive. Everyone needs to take this whole issue more seriously. Officials, politics, and scientists need to figure out what the human poplulation can do to cut down on polutuion. I remeber when I went to California for vaction during the summer of 2018; when we were up near the Hollywood sign, you could physically see the smog that covered the entire LA skyline. Even when landing at the aiport; while coming down in the plane you could distinctively see the difference between a clear sky and the layer of polution that sits over the city I just watched the video I attached above on youtube and it really put a perspective on this entire college/university aspect. College is a bussiness and the more and more people that can afford college the more college will most likely be; for a variety of reasons.
Big Questions: Should you go to a community college for your first 2 years to get all of your pre requistes out of the way? Going to a community college for your first year or two may save you money. However, is the education that you are getting the same? Also, the experience at a community college compared to a college/university is completely different. At a community college you do not have the same experiences. There are no sports teams, major clubs, greek life, or even exta help places that a university would offer: writing center, help centers for each class, multiple advisors, etc. Is college really worth it? Going to college is deffinitley pricey. However, it is an investment, and it will benefit you. Having a college education will never hurt you. This summer I will be taking two summer classes. The first class that I am taking is Calculus 1 at Manchester Community College. The second class that I am taking is R Programming for Data Science; I am taking this class online with Michigan State University (MSU). I am taking Calculus 1 because I am a little behind where I need to be in math right now; taking Cal 1 will allow me to get on track and get me ready for my actuarial science exam next summer. I am taking R programming this summer because it is the most used data science language and it the fastest growing data science language in the world (Professor Finley, PhD).
There are plenty of benefits with taking summer classes. The average amount of years it takes to receive a bachelors degree in the United States is six years. Taking summer classes can help you graduate in the predicted four year time frame. It also allows you to focus on fewer classes/credits at a time which will hopefully allow you to receive better grades for that class. Taking summer classes there is also the possibility that there will be fewer people in the class. Students go home over the summer; Thus, there will be less students on campus then during the school year. Joining the United States Army can beneficial for many. The army is one of three military departments. Throughout the army, you learn respect, honor, and how to be a leader. I believe that the army can teach you things that you will not learn anywhere else. Even if you don't spend your entire career in the army, the army can help you receive higher ranking positions in a job you may obtain after the army. There is never any down side with joining the army; joining the army provides benefits no matter where it leads you.
The mission of the United States Army is to deploy, fight, and win our nation's wars by providing ready, prompt, and sustained land dominance by Army forces across the full spectrum of conflict as part of the joint force. If this is something you are interested in there are many options and routes that you can take to get your self to this point. The army provides many options. 1.) You can enlist and go straight to basic. 2.) You can go to college, join the Army ROTC program that they have there, and complete a bachelors degree. The army also provides scholarships that pay for your college tuition. From a personal point of view, everyone that I have talked to about joining the army only have positive things to say about their experience. Many of my dads friends that I have talked to have said that joining the army is the best decision that they have made! https://www.army.mil/info/organization/?from=hp_spotlight If you are a Spartan sports fan or a fan of Division 1 college sports be sure to go over to the project 4 section on my website. I created a video on how the NCAA scams their own athletes, and the different ways on how Michigan State University can do more, to draw in the attention of better recruits for their sports teams!
*New York Stock Exchange The average millionaire has several sources of income. Sources of income can almost come from anywhere. However, I feel that investing is the most important. Before starting anything you need to familulairze yourself with the stock market and what it is all about. The importance of investing is understanding the basics and not being SCARED. People lose money in the stock market all the time and that is okay. Investing comes with a risk, but can reward you big over time. Investing isn't easy, but there are plenty of ways to put it into more simple terms. Ignore anything negative that others say, nobody, not even Warren Buffet knows what is going to happen with the stock market.
The article written by Arielle O'Shea and Kevin Voigt is perfect for starting off. It goes over many terms that are crucial for investing. The stock market is made up of exchanges such as the New York Stock Exchange and the Nasdaq.
